EMBRACE YOUR JOURNEY
San Michele - Appiano is an ideal destination for hikers, cyclists and culture lovers. It is very well connected to the main traffic arteries, so you can easily reach cities such as Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone and Trento from here.
Day trips to the nearby valleys are also possible by car, for example following the wine route to Salorno or to Val Venosta, Val Passiria, Val Sarentino, or to other areas in the mountains, such as the Parco Naturale di Trodena or the Alpe di Siusi (with its unique Dolomites).
WALK SLOWLY, WALK FORWARD
Hikers and culture lovers will find a wide selection of marked paths in Appiano and its surroundings, embedded in a wonderful alpine Mediterranean scenery and castle landscape. From easy hiking trails for young and old between vineyards and fruit orchards to more demanding mountain hikes in the Dolomites or in the area of Merano: you will be spoilt for choice.
WINTER AT ITS BEST
Appiano and the Oltradige are beautiful even in the cold season. You can enjoy the peace of nature at rest, walk along snow-covered paths and - in the coldest periods - skate on the frozen lakes of Monticolo or Caldaro.
For those who prefer to spend a day skiing, there are several ski areas nearby: Passo della Mendola (20 km), Alpe di Siusi (33 km), San Martino in Val Sarentino Valley (40 km), Obereggen (40 km), Carezza (43 km), Merano 2000 (43 km), Passo Oclini (45 km).
